Military-Affiliated Student Center

Welcome to the Military-Affiliated Student Center

The Military-Affiliated Student Center provides academic support, transition assistance, and advocacy for students who are Active-Duty Service Members, Veterans, ROTC cadets, Reservists, National Guard, and their Families.

      What the MASC Offers

We hope you find a community at the MASC during your time here at Iowa State. Our mission is to strengthen the lives of veterans, military personnel, their families, and our community.

The MASC houses a student lounge area for students to socialize, eat lunch, or take a quick snooze before their afternoon class. We also have a rotation office designated for students needing a quiet place to study and a conference room that may be available for students to practice a presentation or study with a group. Our center provides a place for military-affiliated students to ask military-related questions and utilize resources and events specific to our students' needs, while also building a greater sense of belonging around common experiences. We are here to help with the unique challenges associated with transitioning into a university setting.

Our center is located on the 5th Floor of the Iowa State Memorial Union. We are open during the academic year from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

      Find Your Community

While attending Iowa State, students are encouraged to find a community so they can create a support system while fostering friendships for years to come. Our purpose at the MASC is to not only provide academic, social, and transitional support for our students, but to provide a safe space to allow every individual to be themselves and build camaraderie with one another.
