Scholarships and Aid

1) Be sure to fill out your FASFA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)

  • Even if you are using military education benefits
  • Even if you missed the FASFA deadline
    • For Iowa the deadlines are:
      • State Deadline: July 1, 2022
      • College Deadline: January 3, 2022 for priority but regardless of when you fill out your FASFA you will still be considered for Federal loans and the Pell Grant.
      • Federal Deadline: June 30, 2022

2) Be sure to review the ISU Scholarship Website!

  • With ISU's OneApp scholarship portal, undergraduate students can submit scholarship applications in one place. Access the OneApp portal here.
  • The Office of Student Financial Aid, academic colleges and departments, and other campus units will use the information available in OneApp to select scholarship applicants
  • Deadlines will vary depending on the scholarship, so log onto OneApp early and often to ensure deadlines are met.

3) Look for external scholarship opportunities

  • As a military-affiliated student, you have the opportunity to apply for numerous scholarships external to the University, offered by various organizations and non-profits,

4) Important Considerations!

  • If you are using military benefits (i.e., GI Bill, NGEAP, Fed TA, etc.) be sure to keep your VCO up to date with any changes in your course schedule/student status.
    • For example if you drop below 12 credit hours, your benefits could be reduced
