Brady L. Talley, a proud native of San Antonio, Texas, has dedicated his life to service, education, and student empowerment. His journey began in 1989 when he enlisted in the United States Army, answering the call of duty with honor and courage. He served with distinction during Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm (1990–1991), demonstrating resilience and leadership in the face of global conflict.
Following active duty, Brady continued his military service with the Texas Army National Guard (1991–1995) and later the U.S. Army Reserves (1995–1997), embodying a lifelong commitment to country and community.
In 1995, he earned his bachelor’s degree from Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State University), marking the beginning of a dynamic career that would span athletics, education, and higher education leadership. From 1998 to 2000, he served as a Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Los Angeles Dodgers Baseball Organization, where he helped elite athletes reach peak performance.
Transitioning to education, Brady taught and mentored students at Vero Beach High School and Port St. Lucie High School from 2001 to 2005. His passion for student development led him to pursue advanced studies, culminating in a Master’s degree from Nova Southeastern University in 2012.
From 2007 to 2021, he served as a Career Pathways Student Coordinator at Indian River State College, where he played a pivotal role in guiding students toward academic and career success. In 2021, he joined Iowa State University, first as the Director of Multicultural Student Success, and later as a Student Success Coordinator in 2025.
Currently, Brady serves as the Director of the Military-Affiliated Student Center at Iowa State University, where he champions the success of veterans, active-duty service members, and military-connected students. His leadership is grounded in empathy, experience, and a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by military-affiliated students.
Brady is married to Sara K Harris-Talley, a Business Administrator in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Iowa State University. Together, they are the proud parents of two grown sons, David and Joshua.
