Degree-based scholarships are offered to multiple categories of veterans, military, and dependents. Be sure to review each scholarship's website for more information about application dates and to confirm your eligibility. Armed Forces Communications & Electronics Association 

Application Window: January 1-May 1

Scholarship Amount:  $2,500

Description: 

Eligibility 

Applicants must be: 

  • U.S. citizen currently enrolled and attending a four-year accredited college or university in the United States as a sophomores or junior at the time of application. Freshman and senior level students are ineligible to apply. You cannot apply the year you are graduating. 
  • Enrolled part time or full time in an eligible undergraduate degree program. 
  • Have an overall 3.0 GPA. 
  •  Candidates must be majoring in the following C4I-related fields related to the mission of AFCEA:  
    • aerospace engineering, astronomy, biometry/biometrics, chemical engineering, computer engineering, computer forensics science, computer programming, computer science, computer systems, cybersecurity, electrical engineering, electronics engineering, geospatial science, industrial engineering, information science, information technology, information resource management, intelligence, mathematics, mechanical engineering, network engineering, network security, operations, research, physics, robotics engineering, robotics technology, statistics, strategic intelligence and telecommunications engineering.
  •  Served in Overseas Contingency Operations (from 2003 to present) - provide DD214 or Certificate of Service. Paperwork must verify deployment. Remove SSN. 

War Veteran Teacher Certification Program

 Students actively pursuing a credential/licensure for the purpose of teaching science, technology, engineering or math (STEM) subjects at a U.S. elementary, middle/intermediate and high schools are eligible. Current credential and licensure students must have completed a bachelor’s of science degree.

Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society 

Application Window:  March 1- May 15

Scholarship Amount: Varies $500 - $3,000

Description: The NMCRS Education Assistance Program is designed to help eligible Navy and Marine Corps families pursue their academic goals by providing scholarships and interest-free loans. Awards are provided based on the applicant's financial need, and in accordance with policies established by the Society's Board of Directors.

Eligibility:

  • Children of active duty, retired or qualifying deceased Sailors and Marines (Must be under age 23 by September 30 of current academic year) or Surviving children of Sailors and Marines who passed on active duty or after retirement
  • Spouses of active duty or retired Sailors and Marines
  • Active duty Sailor or Marine enrolled in a MECEP/MECP program is eligible for the loan

Google: Build Your Future Scholarship

Scholarship Amount:  $10,000

Description: 

As part of our commitment to military veterans, Google established the Google SVA Scholarship in partnership with Student Veterans of America. The scholarship provides assistance to student veterans who are pursuing university degrees in the field of computer science in the U.S.

Who can apply?

To be eligible to apply, applicants must:

  • Be currently enrolled as an undergraduate at a college or university
  • Intend to be enrolled in or accepted as a full-time student at a university in the United States for the 2024-2025 academic year
  • Maintain a strong academic performance
  • Pursuing a computer science or computer engineering degree, or a degree in a closely related technical field
  • A current student veteran (includes members of the National Guard or Reserve) as proven by a DD-214 and transcript, or a student on Active Duty as proven by submission of Active Duty orders and a Memorandum of Understanding from your commanding officer indicating that you are currently in good standing with your unit and transcript
  • Has received an honorable discharge, or is in good standing with his/her branch of service

Allied Van Lines

Scholarship Amount: $1000

Description:

At Allied Van Lines, we believe that educational advancement is paramount in improving the lives of individuals from all walks of life—from young adults recently graduating from high school, to career adults seeking continued education for the improvement of their portfolio, a quality education is always the first and most important step in raising the bar for one’s life in many more ways than one.

Due largely to this belief, we are excited to kick start the opportunity of offering our first ever Military Logistics/Supply Chain Management/Operational Management Scholarship, available to all those current or former active duty military and their dependents who qualify. Upon the contest’s close date, two lucky winners will be selected to be the recipients of an award totaling $1,000 each. Read the guidelines below for additional information on entry requirements, the award process, and more.


Award Criteria:

  • 2 individual scholarships will be awarded.
  • Individual scholarship award amount of $1,000 per winner.  Total scholarship awards: $2,000
  • Award amount will be made out to the winner’s school in the form of a check, and mailed to the winner’s personal address.
